Death to Ad-Blockers

Recently researchers may have developed a better mousetrap or should I say ad-trap.  Using new creative methods they have discovered perhaps what might be the best way of blocking ads yet.

I for one hope that the publishers find a way around this. This is because viewing an ad is the cost one pays to consume the content on that website. If you don’t want the ads don’t visit the site. Without ads much of the content we have today would not be available.

Just look at newspapers and magazines. The small amount you pay for an issue wouldn’t even scratch the service to cover the cost to generate the information you get. It probably barely covers the cost to print and get you that issue. With the Internet we don’t have those distribution and printing costs. Consequently, many publishers can rely on the advertisements to cover the cost of generating the content.

Take away the advertisements and the content would cease to exist. Im not just talking about the junk news sites of the 10 best this or that. I’m talking about CNN, Fox news or whatever news service you prefer. I’m talking about Facebook and Twitter. Im talking about YouTube and Google. Yes Google. They are at their heart an advertising company that just happens to have a search engine. This is why I don’t use ad blockers and hope they never take hold.
